Although this song is relatively fast paced, it is a very melancholic song. The singer seems to portray very strong feelings for Jenny, even telling himself that he can always turn to her, without ever having talked to her - a melancholic trait. Melancholics can sometimes seem to be more immersed in a shallow relationship. 

You know, this song is a little creepy - if you were Jenny, how would you feel is this random coworker said this to you? At any rate, I only like this song because it is so catchy, and because it makes references to bygone things of the past, such as pay phones.
