Imagination Movers - Buckle Me In

The Imagination Movers are the greatest children's band of all time. They were formed in 2003 and have received many special recognitions during their career.

Temperament that it hits on: Choleric

Buckle Me In hits on my choleric temperament simply because you must buckle up. It's just as simple as that. I am glad that someone made a song about buckling up and am amazed at how somebody could produce a great song from it.

The main singer in this song is Dave (Poche). The main singers are Rich (Collins) and Scott (Durbin). Smitty (Scott Smith) is the fourth mover, and he sings about as often as Dave. Besides the fact that this song promotes buckling up, it also has some nice 1980's style music in it, so that's another plus.

War - Low Rider

War is a band from Long Beach, California, formed in 1969. They had many hit songs, including this one, a 1975 release.

Temperaments that it hits on: Sanguine / Phlegmatic

Low Rider hits on my sanguine side because they are talking about a really nice car. They do sound like they are bragging a little too, and sanguines often brag. It hits on my phlegmatic temperament because they are just so low-key, more than any other song on this blog, probably.

War should probably be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This was only one of their big hits, and they were huge in the 1970's.

The Beach Boys - 409

The Beach Boys have been active since 1961. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988.

Temperament that it hits on: Sanguine

409 hits on my sanguine temperament because it makes me feel glad that he got his car and is enjoying it. Sanguines love fast paced songs, being the quickest, and sports cars. This song is a good one about a really great car.

I actually first heard this song at a Studebakers concert. The Studebakers are a band that tributes songs and singers from the 1950's and 1960's. They are really good and I recommend them highly.

Matt Maher - Because He Lives

Matt Maher has played in front of each of the last two popes, Benedict XVI and Francis, in 2008 and 2013, respectively.

Temperaments that it hits on: Choleric and Phlegmatic

It is rare that a song hits on opposite temperaments, but this is already the second that does. Because He Lives hits on my choleric side because cholerics are generally just, and this song reminds me to give credit where credit is due. The reason why the song hits o my phlegmatic temperament is because it takes humility to admit that everything that we could possibly do is on His account, and that if He had never risen from the dead, we would not be able to enter into Heaven.

This song is one of my utter favorites. The message of the song is good, but the music is also fine, and I like it when sentences are started with "because." Most singers use really bad grammar, Matt Maher is good about that. It was released in 2015.

Coming up

I really like songs about cars, for whatever reason. I have probably about half a dozen so far that I will be publishing, so I will do those next. I hope that you enjoy them.

Jeremy Camp - This Man

Jeremy Camp has been active since 2000 and may be the most popular Christian singer of them all. He's won many awards and is on the radio all the time.

Temperaments that it hits on: Melancholic / Choleric

This Man hits on my melancholic temperament, again, because it reminds me of Christ's Passion and Death and the love that it took to give up his life. It hits on my choleric temperament because it challenges me - would I take His place? Would I take the nails from His hands?

This Man, a 2004 release, from Camp's album Restored. Other than that, I don't have much commentary.

NOTICE III

My brother has just made a blog called Potpourri World (notdamiensblog.blogspot.com) on my profile. Just so you know, it ain't mine.

Chris Tomlin - At The Cross

Chris Tomlin has been active since 1993 (when he was 21) as a Christian singer and songwriter. He is one of the most popular Christian artists ever, having sold over 7,000,000 (seven million) records.

Temperaments that it hits on: Melancholic / Phlegmatic

At The Cross hits on my melancholic temperament because it is such a powerful reminder of Christ's Passion and Death and how much love it took for Him to bleed out and more for us. It hits on my phlegmatic temperament because phlegmatics like to rest and repose in Christ, and this song mentions that.

I always like these songs about Christ's Passion because I feel close to Him when I meditate on it. Coming up next is another powerful song about His Suffering (don't worry - it's not Matt Maher).

Matt Maher - Christ Is Risen

Matt Maher won the the Songwriter of the Year award in 2015.

Temperament that it hits on: Sanguine

This is a tough one, but I think that Christ Is Risen hits on my sanguine side. This is because it celebrates the greatest act of love and victory ever, and it is right to rejoice this Easter season.

Matt Maher is my favorite Christian singer, and I always enjoy songs about Christ's Resurrection. This song meets both standards and is therefore one of my all time favorites.

Chris and Conrad - Lead Me To The Cross

From 2007 through 2010 Chris Kuti and Conrad Johnson worked as a Christian singing duo. Their only album, Chris and Conrad, released in 2009, featured this song, which reached pretty good success.

Temperament that is hits on: Melancholic

Lead Me To The Cross hits on my melancholic traits because the song is so powerful. Melancholics are the ones who tend to love most passionately, and this song is all about the greatest act of Divine Love in history.

This is probably my favorite song of all time. Not a lot of other songs reflect on Christ's Passion, Death, and Resurrection so thoroughly.

Matt Maher - Resurrection Day

Part of why I like Matt Maher so much is because some of his songs, such as Lord, I Need You and Your Grace Is Enough have appeared in Church Missalettes.

Temperament that it hits on: Sanguine

Resurrection Day hits on my sanguine side because the song celebrates Christ's Resurrection, which is a celebration of victorious life. Sanguines are very lively and enjoy celebrations.

Ah, Matt Maher... I could listen to him all day long. This song is one of my utter favorites. I don't know if everyone will think that this is good or bad, but since Matt Maher has written plenty of songs about Christ's Resurrection, you'll be hearing a lot of him in the near future.

Elevation Worship - Resurrecting

Elevation Worship has been active since 2007. They are a contemporary Christian band and are now largely popular.

Temperament that it hits on: Melancholic

Resurrecting hits on my melancholic temperament because the song helps me to realize the great love that it took for Jesus to suffer all that He did for us and how great a victory His Resurrection was.

I think that it is only appropriate to publish the handful of songs that I have that reflect on Christ's Passion, Death, and Resurrection during this Easter season.

Switchfoot - Let It Out

Switchfoot has been active since 1996 as a rock band. Hailing from San Diego, California, the band has found much success and can be heard on both Christian and secular radio stations.

Temperament that it hits on: Phlegmatic

Let It Out is easily the most phlegmatic song that I've ever heard. Phlegmatics love to "take it easy right now". That they are so willing to surrender pride and vanity to perform no matter what people think is pleasant to a choleric.

Let It Out came out in 2014 and was pretty popular among Christian music fans. Although it isn't distinctly a Christian song, it can be interpreted that way.

Danny Gokey - Rise

Danny Gokey has been active since 2008 and has won a few awards along the way. This song, a 2016 release, is one of his more popular songs.

Temperament that it hits on: Melancholic

Rise hits on my melancholic because most melancholics feel as if life is closing in on them sometimes. This song makes my "all time anthems" list for melancholic related songs because it actually tells you what to do next when you feel down on yourself.

Danny Gokey has had some real hardships in his life. His wife died in 2008 after they were married for twelve years. That this song came from him really speaks to me. It seems to me that he is handling his loss pretty well.

Imagination Movers - We Got Each Other
