You know, whenever I think of the most successful artists of all time, I tend to think of guys who were around for decades, such as Elvis Presley or Tom Petty. What people may not realize is that the Beatles were together for only about ten years. 

Temperament that it hits on: Sanguine 

I'd say that Everybody’s Got Something To Hide Except Me And My Monkey (eesh, long title) is probably a sanguine song - it's upbeat, fast paced, and a bit goofy. I hope I'm not misinterpreting this song, but that's what it seems like to me. 

"Everybody’s got something to hide except me and my monkey." 

"What monkey? Where? I don't smell no monkey." 

"Uhh..." 

The title really does it justice.

Tommy Tutone was active from 1978 through 1984 and again from 1996 to the present. This song, released in 1981, was their biggest hit. 

Temperament that it hits on: Melancholic 

Although this song is relatively fast paced, it is a very melancholic song. The singer seems to portray very strong feelings for Jenny, even telling himself that he can always turn to her, without ever having talked to her - a melancholic trait. Melancholics can sometimes seem to be more immersed in a shallow relationship. 

You know, this song is a little creepy - if you were Jenny, how would you feel is this random coworker said this to you? At any rate, I only like this song because it is so catchy, and because it makes references to bygone things of the past, such as pay phones.  

Bruce Springsteen - Glory Days

Bruce Springsteen, active since 1964, is a rock legend. He has released 20 studio albums and sold over 150,000,000 (150 million) records. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999. 

Temperament that it hits on: Melancholic 

An expert once said that melancholics never live in the present, instead thinking about the past and future. That, in addition to the clinging sentiments of this song, make this a very melancholic tune.
