Daughtry, active since 2006, is a rock band named after lead singer Chris Daughtry, who was a finalist on American Idol. This song, released in 2007, was probably their biggest hit.
Temperament that it hits on: Melancholic
Home portrays Daughtry's feelings toward always being on tour and wanting to come home to his wife. Those two feelings (discomfort with constant change and romantic love) are very typical of melancholics.
Chris Daughtry is a Christian, and released a studio album called Baptized in 2014. That said, it is little surprise that this song is commonly heard on Christian radio stations (probably with the interpretation that Daughtry is talking to God about his hard life in general and his wish to be with Him in Heaven).
