Johnny Horton - The Battle Of New Orleans

Johnny Horton started his career in 1950 and became one of the most famous singers in America in 1958. In 1959, he released The Battle Of New Orleans, which sold more than 2,000,000 (two million) records. At the peak of his success in 1960, he died in an automobile accident at the age of 35.

Temperament that it hits on: Sanguine

The Battle Of New Orleans hits on my sanguine because it is really funny to me. The fourth verse cracks me up some two years after I first heard it. I also enjoy battle songs, much like many sanguines. This is the first Johnny Horton song that I have ever heard, and now he is one of my all time favorite singers.

The real Battle Of New Orleans actually took place in 1815, not 1814. Other than that, I also really enjoy this song because it's historically correct. Johnny Horton's Greatest Hits album, with this song featured eighth, is constantly playing in my house.
